1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 575
2	2	WHEREAS, The Schreiner University shotgun team furthered
3	3	its proud tradition of excellence by winning the Division I
4	4	national title at the 2019 Association of College Unions
5	5	International Collegiate Clay Target Championships; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Competing March 25 through 30 in San Antonio, the
7	7	Mountaineers earned the Division I championship after claiming
8	8	the Division II crown in 2018; Schreiner faced off against 90
9	9	other colleges at the 2019 event, capturing the High Over All
10	10	National Champion and American All Around National Champion team
11	11	awards; additionally, the Mountaineers secured top finishes from
12	12	their American Skeet, Super Sporting, and International Skeet
13	13	teams and second-place showings from their American Trap,
14	14	International Trap, and Sporting Clays squads; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Collecting five gold medals in the Men's and
16	16	Women's Open Division, the Mountaineers garnered wins from Colt
17	17	McBee in Combined Skeet and Combined International, Logan
18	18	McLendon in American Skeet, Nolan Fontenot in Super Sporting,
19	19	and Rachel Barringer in women's American Skeet; in men's
20	20	competition, Mr. McBee finished second in International Skeet
21	21	and third in Combined American, Brandon Reising earned second
22	22	in Sporting Clays and third in Combined Clays, Tyler Birkner
23	23	took third in Sporting Clays, Keaton Sharp was second in
24	24	International Trap A Class, and Hayden Oliver finished third in
25	25	American Trap A Class; in the women's division, Megan Jacob was
26	26	third in American Skeet; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Schreiner's outstanding success in recent years
28	28	has included four consecutive Division III runner-up finishes
29	29	from 2014 through 2017 as well as the 2018 Division II title; the
30	30	team's dedicated athletes are coached by Robert Davis, a master
31	31	skeet instructor who is certified by the National Skeet Shooting
32	32	Association; and
33	33	WHEREAS, By achieving the rare feat of winning
34	34	back-to-back national championships, the members of the
35	35	Schreiner University shotgun team have become a source of great
36	36	pride to their school and to the Kerrville community, and they
37	37	will treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of
38	38	their lives; now, therefore, be it
39	39	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
40	40	Legislature, hereby congratulate the Schreiner University
41	41	shotgun team on winning the Division I national title at the
42	42	2019 Association of College Unions International Collegiate
43	43	Clay Target Championships and extend to the team members,
44	44	coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success;
45	45	and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the
48	48	Texas Senate.
