| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Heart Galleries of Texas are working to raise |

| 4 | 4 | | be placed in permanent, loving homes; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Heart Galleries are traveling exhibits that |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | feature portraits and biographies of foster children from the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | local community; the national model for the Heart Gallery |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | originated with the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Department in 2001, and Heart Galleries have since helped connect |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | foster children with adoptive families in a number of states and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | cities across the country; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas has embraced this innovative |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | concept in recent years, and many community partners and adoption |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | agencies have come forward to assist the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Family and Protective Services in its efforts to promote the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | adoption of Texas children; Heart Galleries rely on a multitude |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of volunteers who lend their time and talents to this endeavor, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | as well as on community institutions, ranging from churches and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | libraries to businesses and state agencies, that generously |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | serve as host venues for the program; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Heart Galleries of Texas are making a profound |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | difference in the lives of countless children, as well as in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | lives of the families who choose to embark on the rewarding |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | journey of opening their home to a young Texan in need; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Heart Galleries of Texas for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | their outstanding work to connect children with adoptive |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | families and extend to all those involved with this worthwhile |
|---|
