1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 588
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the Environmental Excellence Recognition Program and
4	4	its inaugural honorees for helping to promote a culture of
5	5	environmental stewardship in West Texas; and
6	6	WHEREAS, An initiative of Senate District 29, the
7	7	Environmental Excellence Recognition Program was established in
8	8	2019 on the recommendation of the district's Environmental
9	9	Advisory Committee; and
10	10	WHEREAS, This new annual awards series recognizes projects
11	11	and individual advocates working to improve the environment;
12	12	recipients are selected in five categories and will be honored
13	13	each year at an Earth Day event; and
14	14	WHEREAS, For its inaugural year, the awards program is
15	15	honoring the Career Center at Riverside High School in the
16	16	education category for its Solar Technology Program, Candace
17	17	Printz in the environmental stewardship category for her
18	18	community recycling and art project at El Dorado High School, the
19	19	City of El Paso Environmental Services Department in the
20	20	innovation category for the successful implementation of the
21	21	Snap Sampling Method for Landfill Groundwater Analysis, the City
22	22	of Elizario in the leadership category for its coordinated
23	23	pollinator initiatives, and Richard Teschner for his lifetime
24	24	achievements in conservation and his impact on open space
25	25	preservation in El Paso; and
26	26	WHEREAS, The Environmental Excellence Recognition Program
27	27	will strengthen a regional culture of conservation and
28	28	preservation, and the inaugural award recipients help to further
29	29	this mission by inspiring new endeavors in best environmental
30	30	practices; now, therefore, be it
31	31	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
32	32	Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the
33	33	Environmental Excellence Recognition Program in Senate District
34	34	29 and extend congratulations to the program's first awards
35	35	recipients; and, be it further
36	36	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
37	37	the program as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
