| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Tim Brown, who is retiring as president and chief |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | executive officer of the Methodist Children's Home on June 30, |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | 2019, after 36 years of service to the organization; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Methodist Children's Home in Waco provides |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | residential services, transitional living services, and in-home |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | services to more than 5,000 individuals in Texas and New Mexico |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | each year; Tim Brown has served the organization in several |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | capacities during his long career, and he is retiring after nine |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | years of distinguished leadership as executive director; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown began supporting the Methodist |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Children's Home's mission as a home parent in 1971; he went on to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | become a recreational coordinator, and he rose through the ranks |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to serve in several leadership positions before stepping in as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | executive director in 2010; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure as director, Mr. Brown |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | initiated a strategic planning process that strengthened the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | agency's position as a national leader in residential child care; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | this process led to a master plan for 11 new residential homes on |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the historic Waco campus that have drawn the attention of child |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | care agencies throughout the nation; the ministry has been |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | recognized by the top charity oversight organization as a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | four-star entity, the highest designation attainable; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Tim Brown has been a tireless advocate for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | vulnerable children and young adults; he is a man of exceptional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | compassion, and his invaluable expertise has set the Methodist |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Children's Home on a course for continued growth and success; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Tim Brown for his many contributions |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to the community and his exemplary leadership of the Methodist |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Children's Home and extend to him best wishes for the future; |
