| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in recognizing our state's |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | professional counselors and in celebrating April 2019 as |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | National Counseling Awareness Month in Texas; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, There are more than 12,000 professional school |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | counselors and 25,000 licensed professional counselors in Texas, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | making them the largest group of mental health providers in the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | state; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, School counselors deliver comprehensive school |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | counseling programs that enable students to be successful not |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | just in school but in life; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Licensed professional counselors help our |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | constituents move through and overcome mental health challenges |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to live healthy and productive lives in our communities; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The work that professional counselors do is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | mostly unseen and certainly under-recognized; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Counseling Association, the largest |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | branch of the American Counseling Association, works to increase |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | access to professional counselors and promote wellness for all |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texans; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, More than 150 professional counselors are with us |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | today in conjunction with the Texas Counseling Association's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | second advocacy day; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend all professional counselors across |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the state for their invaluable work and extend to them best |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | wishes during National Counseling Awareness Month in Texas; and, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | honor of this state's professional counselors and as an |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
