| 3 | 3 | | the economy and culture of Texas communities, and in 2019, the |

| 4 | 4 | | Barrios family is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Los Barrios |

| 5 | 5 | | Restaurant in San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Los Barrios was founded by Viola Barrios in 1979 |

| 7 | 7 | | as a way to provide for her family after the passing of her |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | husband, Jose; she opened the restaurant in an old boathouse, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | offering a variety of "casero style" Mexican dishes; over the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | years, Los Barrios has become a favorite among local patrons, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | it has also earned national media recognition, appearing on Good |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Morning America, The Today Show, and a number of programs on the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Food Network; in addition, the business has been featured on the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Travel Channel, NPR, PBS, the BBC, and Telemundo International, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | as well as in many print publications, including Texas Monthly, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Southern Living, Esquire, and the New York Times; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Today, Los Barrios remains a family affair, with |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Viola Barrios's son, Louis Barrios, serving as president and CEO, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | her daughter, Diana Barrios Treviño, and her husband, Roland, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | serving as vice presidents, and her granddaughter, Analie Van |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sciver, serving as director of human resources; the Barrios |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | family also owns several other restaurants, a catering business, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a boutique, and Viola's Huge Heart Foundation, a nonprofit that |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | helps women achieve their goals by providing them with |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | educational scholarships; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Los Barrios has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | become a signature San Antonio enterprise, and the members of the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Barrios family may take great pride in their legacy of success as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | they celebrate this special milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of Los |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Barrios Restaurant and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | business sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
