| 3 | 3 | | recognize Georgetta Harding Johnson, a 50-year member of Delta |

| 4 | 4 | | Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by the |

| 5 | 5 | | Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Chapters at a Joint Founders Day |

| 6 | 6 | | Luncheon on February 9, 2019; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded in 1913 on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the campus of Howard University; the organization strives to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | promote academic excellence, provide scholarships, improve |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | communities, support the underserved, and encourage civic and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | political awareness and participation in the establishment of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | positive public policy; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Founders Day Luncheon presents an excellent |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | opportunity for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Chapters to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | honor the contributions of long-term members and to celebrate |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | their membership milestones; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Georgetta Harding Johnson has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | remained a loyal member of the sorority and has served as a mentor |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and role model to countless sisters; she is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | recognition for her longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sorority and for the important role she has played in helping her |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | chapter carry out its mission of service to the sorority and to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Georgetta Harding Johnson on her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | many achievements and extend to her congratulations on being |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | honored by the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Chapters as a 50-year |

| 28 | 28 | | member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and, be it further |
