5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Timothy Von Kennel, who died April 12, |
---|
7 | 7 | | 2019, at the age of 62; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Timothy Von Kennel was a beloved citizen, and he |
---|
9 | 9 | | inspired those who knew him through his wisdom, his kindness, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | his commitment to his work on behalf of his fellow citizens; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born February 13, 1957, Tim earned a bachelor's |
---|
12 | 12 | | degree from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree |
---|
13 | 13 | | in municipal finance from Ohio State University; he began his |
---|
14 | 14 | | career by serving as the assistant to the Fort Worth city |
---|
15 | 15 | | manager, and he went on to distinguish himself as a respected |
---|
16 | 16 | | expert in government relations and economic development through |
---|
17 | 17 | | his extensive work in the energy sector; he retired from ATMOS |
---|
18 | 18 | | Energy as president and director of Texas governmental |
---|
19 | 19 | | relations; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to working in the energy sector, |
---|
21 | 21 | | Timothy served as president of VK and Associates, a family-owned |
---|
22 | 22 | | legislative advocacy firm that assisted clients with business |
---|
23 | 23 | | development and government communications; he was also an |
---|
24 | 24 | | executive leader for several state-level consumer advocacy |
---|
25 | 25 | | associations, and he served as chief executive officer of the |
---|
26 | 26 | | National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of |
---|
27 | 27 | | Texas; in 2017, he was selected from more than 50 applicants from |
---|
28 | 28 | | across the country to serve as executive director of the Economic |
---|
29 | 29 | | Development Council of Parker County; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, An esteemed member of the community, Tim was a |
---|
31 | 31 | | member of the Emergency Services District 6 Fire and Rescue |
---|
32 | 32 | | Board, and he volunteered to serve on boards that connect |
---|
33 | 33 | | returning veterans and released prisoners with services needed |
---|
34 | 34 | | to help them succeed in society; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Tim shared a rewarding life with his devoted wife, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Phyllis Von Kennel, and he was blessed with two children, whom he |
---|
37 | 37 | | guided by loving example; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Tim Von Kennel was a man of strength and |
---|
39 | 39 | | integrity, and he will long be remembered with respect and |
---|
40 | 40 | | admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
---|
41 | 41 | | therefore, be it |
---|
42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
43 | 43 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
44 | 44 | | family of Timothy Von Kennel; and, be it further |
---|
45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
46 | 46 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
47 | 47 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
48 | 48 | | memory of Tim Von Kennel. |
