44 Timothy Von Kennel
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Timothy Von Kennel, who died April 12,
77 2019, at the age of 62; and
88 WHEREAS, Timothy Von Kennel was a beloved citizen, and he
99 inspired those who knew him through his wisdom, his kindness, and
1010 his commitment to his work on behalf of his fellow citizens; and
1111 WHEREAS, Born February 13, 1957, Tim earned a bachelor's
1212 degree from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree
1313 in municipal finance from Ohio State University; he began his
1414 career by serving as the assistant to the Fort Worth city
1515 manager, and he went on to distinguish himself as a respected
1616 expert in government relations and economic development through
1717 his extensive work in the energy sector; he retired from ATMOS
1818 Energy as president and director of Texas governmental
1919 relations; and
2020 WHEREAS, In addition to working in the energy sector,
2121 Timothy served as president of VK and Associates, a family-owned
2222 legislative advocacy firm that assisted clients with business
2323 development and government communications; he was also an
2424 executive leader for several state-level consumer advocacy
2525 associations, and he served as chief executive officer of the
2626 National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of
2727 Texas; in 2017, he was selected from more than 50 applicants from
2828 across the country to serve as executive director of the Economic
2929 Development Council of Parker County; and
3030 WHEREAS, An esteemed member of the community, Tim was a
3131 member of the Emergency Services District 6 Fire and Rescue
3232 Board, and he volunteered to serve on boards that connect
3333 returning veterans and released prisoners with services needed
3434 to help them succeed in society; and
3535 WHEREAS, Tim shared a rewarding life with his devoted wife,
3636 Phyllis Von Kennel, and he was blessed with two children, whom he
3737 guided by loving example; and
3838 WHEREAS, Tim Von Kennel was a man of strength and
3939 integrity, and he will long be remembered with respect and
4040 admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
4141 therefore, be it
4242 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
4343 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
4444 family of Timothy Von Kennel; and, be it further
4545 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4646 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4747 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4848 memory of Tim Von Kennel.
