11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 619
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women
44 on the occasion of their visit to the Capitol on April 25, 2019; and
55 WHEREAS, The Texas Federation of Republican Women is one of
66 the largest women's political organizations in the country;
77 organized in 1955, 17 years after the National Federation of
88 Republican Women was formed, it is widely recognized for its
99 effectiveness in the election of Republican Party candidates to
1010 city, county, state, and national offices; and
1111 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Federation of Republican
1212 Women spend countless hours researching issues and working on
1313 behalf of Republican Party candidates; their goals include
1414 education, training, and participation in government, and they
1515 have played a key role in encouraging Republican women to run for
1616 office; they also dedicate their efforts in support of community
1717 service programs and literacy projects; and
1818 WHEREAS, The organization's officers for the 2018-2019
1919 biennium are Karen C. Newton, president; Glynis Chester, first
2020 vice president; Diane Haddock, vice president, bylaws; Michele
2121 Samuelson, vice president, campaign activities; Becky Berger,
2222 vice president, finance; Julie Faubel, vice president,
2323 legislation; Rhonda Lacy, vice president, membership; Linda
2424 Hagler, vice president, programs; Marie Maggio, secretary; Cindy
2525 Barberio Payne, treasurer; and Theresa Kosmoski, immediate past
2626 president; and
2727 WHEREAS, Through the commitment, hard work, and dedication
2828 of federation members, women of all ages, ethnic groups, and
2929 backgrounds have an increased awareness of political issues and
3030 have recognized their importance in the political process; now,
3131 therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3333 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Federation
3434 of Republican Women for their exemplary accomplishments and
3535 proclaim April 25, 2019, Texas Federation of Republican Women
3636 Legislative Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
3838 organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
