| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Constable Larry Gallardo for his outstanding service |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | as president of the board of directors for the Texas Association |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | of Counties; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry Gallardo is the Precinct 3 constable in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Hidalgo County; since taking office in 2001, he has more than |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | tripled the number of deputies in his office and has established |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a number of initiatives that have benefited the community; in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 2002, he launched Program Stop, which addresses the issue of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | truancy, and in 2004, he started Project SWEEP, which enforces |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | penalties for illegal dumping; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Constable Gallardo began his service to the Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Association of Counties in 2007, when he was named to its board of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | directors; under his leadership as board president, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | organization has played an important role in supporting and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | promoting the work done by county governments; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, He has also served as president of the Justices of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Peace and Constables Association of Texas; his honors include |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | recognition as the 2007 and 2010 Constable of the Year; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, Constable Gallardo |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | is respected and admired by his colleagues and area citizens, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his many contributions to Hidalgo County and our state; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Constable Larry Gallardo on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exceptional achievements and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
