| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Yes to Youth--Montgomery County Youth Services on the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | occasion of the organization's 40th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Montgomery County Youth Services was incorporated |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | on February 2, 1979, in response to a lack of adequate shelters |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | for children facing separation from their parents; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, this outstanding organization |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | has implemented a wide range of initiatives to aid young people, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | including a crisis hotline, mental health counseling, the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Fairway Shelter for homeless youth, mentoring programs in area |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | schools, and suicide awareness and prevention efforts; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Montgomery County Youth Services has also drawn |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | on extensive community support by establishing several |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | successful fund-raising events, including a long-running |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | celebrity golf tournament, which has attracted professional |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | athletes like Jeff Maggert, Roger Clemens, Mike Scott, and Doug |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Drabek; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The organization was rebranded as Yes to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Youth--Montgomery County Youth Services in 2018, and it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | continues to support young people with counseling services, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | shelter, and opportunities for empowerment; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For 40 years, Montgomery County Youth Services |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | has had a profound impact on the lives of area young people, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it is truly fitting that it receive special recognition as it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the management and staff of Yes to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Youth--Montgomery County Youth Services on their commitment to |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | helping young people and extend to all best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
