| 4 | 4 | | fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Garland Chamber of Commerce, |

| 6 | 6 | | Leadership Garland provides corporate leadership training and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | aims to motivate and inspire civic leaders; participants, who |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds and interests, are |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | given the tools to expand their leadership roles and involvement |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | within the community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Members also assist local nonprofit organizations |

| 12 | 12 | | as part of the Garland Gives community service project, which has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | become an annual tradition of the leadership program; this year's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | class has chosen to support a variety of important initiatives, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | including Hope's Door New Beginning Center, Jonathan's Place, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Garland Area Habitat for Humanity, and the Garland Landmark |

| 17 | 17 | | Society; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of |

| 19 | 19 | | volunteerism and community pride, Leadership Garland is |

| 20 | 20 | | fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is |

| 21 | 21 | | helping to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the |

| 22 | 22 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby recognize April 30, 2019, as Leadership |
