11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 633
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the Texas Legislative Internship Program Class of the
44 86th Legislature; and
55 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Internship Program was
66 established by Senator Rodney Ellis in December of 1990 and is
77 administered by Texas Southern University; and
88 WHEREAS, This excellent internship program provides a unique
99 opportunity for students from Texas colleges and universities to
1010 serve as interns in the Texas Legislature, the United States
1111 Congress, and a variety of local, state, and national governmental
1212 agencies and public policy organizations; and
1313 WHEREAS, Students receive academic credit for
1414 participating in the program, which combines academic study and
1515 research with supervised practical training; as interns, they
1616 gain firsthand knowledge of the governmental process and work
1717 experience in a political environment, as well as insight into
1818 the issues facing our communities and our state today; and
1919 WHEREAS, The participants in the Texas Legislative
2020 Internship Program are Brandi Granderson, Jennifer Russell, John
2121 Phelan, Day Brown, Paige Bostic, Franklin Achonye, Brianna
2222 Golden, Pedro Perez-Navejar, Yusuf Bavi, Sherrell Ross, Sarah
2323 Perkins, Braylen Gage, Alexis Tatum, Kelly Peterson, Zainab
2424 Ghwari, Ikenna Okoro, Breana Wilson, Kathleen Roberts, Victoria
2525 Garcia, Leland Ellis, Justus Miles, and Kristopher Henny; and
2626 WHEREAS, Program participants demonstrated
2727 resourcefulness and diligence in the performance of their
2828 multifaceted duties and contributed significantly to the ongoing
2929 operations in the offices in which they served; now, therefore,
3030 be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3232 Legislature, hereby commend the participants in the Texas
3333 Legislative Internship Program on their excellent work and
3434 extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 the class as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
