2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Legislative Internship Program Class of the |

4 | 4 | | 86th Legislature; and |
---|
5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Internship Program was |
---|
6 | 6 | | established by Senator Rodney Ellis in December of 1990 and is |
---|
7 | 7 | | administered by Texas Southern University; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This excellent internship program provides a unique |
---|
9 | 9 | | opportunity for students from Texas colleges and universities to |
---|
10 | 10 | | serve as interns in the Texas Legislature, the United States |
---|
11 | 11 | | Congress, and a variety of local, state, and national governmental |
---|
12 | 12 | | agencies and public policy organizations; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Students receive academic credit for |
---|
14 | 14 | | participating in the program, which combines academic study and |
---|
15 | 15 | | research with supervised practical training; as interns, they |
---|
16 | 16 | | gain firsthand knowledge of the governmental process and work |
---|
17 | 17 | | experience in a political environment, as well as insight into |
---|
18 | 18 | | the issues facing our communities and our state today; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The participants in the Texas Legislative |
---|
20 | 20 | | Internship Program are Brandi Granderson, Jennifer Russell, John |
---|
21 | 21 | | Phelan, Day Brown, Paige Bostic, Franklin Achonye, Brianna |
