| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Pecos County 4-H clubs are visiting |

| 3 | 3 | | the State Capitol on April 25, 2019; and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1908, Texas 4-H is the state's largest |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | youth development program, with more than 550,000 young people |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | from every county taking part each year; the program is |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | administered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | offers participants the chance to engage in activities related to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the areas of agriculture, science, engineering, leadership, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | natural resources, and family and community health, among |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | others; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Pecos County 4-H was established in the 1950s by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | agriculture agent Pat Garner, and today it serves nearly 160 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | youth across the county; the organization consists of four local |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | affiliates, the Pecos River 4-H Club, the Fort Stockton 4-H Club, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the Imperial 4-H Club, and the Coyanosa 4-H Club, which benefit |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | from the leadership of club presidents Rylie Cravens, Shannon |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Weyerts, Wyatt Ivey, and Lizette Ulloa; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, Pecos County 4-H has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enriched the lives of many young Texans by helping them gain the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | knowledge and skills necessary to become engaged and productive |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | citizens, and it is indeed fitting to pay tribute to this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | outstanding organization; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby recognize April 25, 2019, as Pecos County 4-H |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those visiting sincere |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | best wishes for an informative and enjoyable stay in Austin; and, |

| 28 | 28 | | be it further |
