SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 635 WHEREAS, Daniel Scott Shaw of Bulverde is retiring as deputy director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Law Enforcement Division on June 30, 2019, drawing to a close an exceptional career that has spanned more than three decades; and WHEREAS, Since 2012, Danny Shaw has overseen TPWD's statewide law enforcement operations, which encompass a total of more than 670 game wardens and support staff, 28 field offices, and the Game Warden Training Center; managing a $72 million budget, he represents the interests of the Law Enforcement Division before the state legislature and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, and he heads communications with federal and state partners; and WHEREAS, A former president of the Texas Game Warden and Game Warden Peace Officers Associations, Mr. Shaw has served as a National Association of Conservation Law Enforcement Leadership Academy Mentor and with the TPWD Natural Leaders; moreover, he has undergone extensive training with the FBI National Academy Command College and with numerous other organizations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Shaw holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Angelo State University; beginning his TPWD tenure as a game warden in 1986, he rose through the ranks as lieutenant game warden and district supervisor of the agency's Law Enforcement Division in San Antonio; next serving as director of training at the Game Warden Training Center from 2008 through 2012, he oversaw the education of cadets, field game wardens, and supervisors across Texas; and WHEREAS, Danny Shaw's dedication, professionalism, and integrity have greatly benefited the citizens of the Lone Star State, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby congratulate Daniel Scott Shaw on his retirement as deputy director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Law Enforcement Division and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Shaw as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
