7 | 7 | | Missy Shorey of Dallas on April 23, 2019, at the age of 47; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The first woman elected chair of the Dallas County |

9 | 9 | | Republican Party, Missy Shorey took office in 2017; she worked |

10 | 10 | | tirelessly in behalf of conservative candidates and the values |
---|
11 | 11 | | she cherished, including life, liberty, and our constitutional |
---|
12 | 12 | | rights; with her vibrant personality and tremendous energy and |
---|
13 | 13 | | enthusiasm, she helped energize voters around the powerful |
---|
14 | 14 | | opportunities she saw for citizens of North Texas; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Shorey previously served for seven years as |
---|
16 | 16 | | executive director of Maggie's List, a national political action |
---|
17 | 17 | | committee dedicated to electing conservative women to the United |
---|
18 | 18 | | States Congress; she was the founder, CEO, and president of |
---|
19 | 19 | | Shorey Public Relations, an agency specializing in energy, |
---|
20 | 20 | | elections, and economic development; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Born in Mobile, Alabama, Ms. Shorey moved |
---|
22 | 22 | | frequently in her youth as the daughter of a Coast Guard rescue |
---|
23 | 23 | | pilot; she worked on Capitol Hill while attending high school in |
---|
24 | 24 | | Washington, D.C., and after graduating from the University of |
---|
25 | 25 | | Florida, she ran a congressional campaign and served as a |
---|
26 | 26 | | communications specialist for the United States Senate |
---|
27 | 27 | | Republican Conference; having completed her MBA at American |
---|
28 | 28 | | University's Kogod School of Business, she became a vice |
---|
29 | 29 | | president for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and senior vice |
---|
30 | 30 | | president and marketing practice leader for Hill+Knowlton |
---|
31 | 31 | | Strategies; she launched her own firm in 2004; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Missy Shorey dedicated herself to making a |
---|
33 | 33 | | positive difference in the world around her, and although she |
---|
34 | 34 | | will be deeply missed, she leaves a legacy that will long be |
---|
35 | 35 | | treasured by those who were fortunate enough to share in the |
---|
36 | 36 | | richness of her life; now, therefore, be it |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

38 | 38 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Missy Shorey and |
---|
39 | 39 | | extend sincere condolences to her husband, Marc Himelhoch, and to |

40 | 40 | | all who mourn her passing; and, be it further |

41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
