55 WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help comfort
66 those saddened by the untimely death of admired civic leader
77 Missy Shorey of Dallas on April 23, 2019, at the age of 47; and
88 WHEREAS, The first woman elected chair of the Dallas County
99 Republican Party, Missy Shorey took office in 2017; she worked
1010 tirelessly in behalf of conservative candidates and the values
1111 she cherished, including life, liberty, and our constitutional
1212 rights; with her vibrant personality and tremendous energy and
1313 enthusiasm, she helped energize voters around the powerful
1414 opportunities she saw for citizens of North Texas; and
1515 WHEREAS, Ms. Shorey previously served for seven years as
1616 executive director of Maggie's List, a national political action
1717 committee dedicated to electing conservative women to the United
1818 States Congress; she was the founder, CEO, and president of
1919 Shorey Public Relations, an agency specializing in energy,
2020 elections, and economic development; and
2121 WHEREAS, Born in Mobile, Alabama, Ms. Shorey moved
2222 frequently in her youth as the daughter of a Coast Guard rescue
2323 pilot; she worked on Capitol Hill while attending high school in
2424 Washington, D.C., and after graduating from the University of
2525 Florida, she ran a congressional campaign and served as a
2626 communications specialist for the United States Senate
2727 Republican Conference; having completed her MBA at American
2828 University's Kogod School of Business, she became a vice
2929 president for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and senior vice
3030 president and marketing practice leader for Hill+Knowlton
3131 Strategies; she launched her own firm in 2004; and
3232 WHEREAS, Missy Shorey dedicated herself to making a
3333 positive difference in the world around her, and although she
3434 will be deeply missed, she leaves a legacy that will long be
3535 treasured by those who were fortunate enough to share in the
3636 richness of her life; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3838 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Missy Shorey and
3939 extend sincere condolences to her husband, Marc Himelhoch, and to
4040 all who mourn her passing; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4242 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4343 this day, it do so in memory of Missy Shorey.
