| 4 | 4 | | 2019-2021 Grow Your Own Grant Program, Cycle 2; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Designed to increase the number and diversity of |

| 6 | 6 | | classroom teachers in small and rural school districts, grant |

| 7 | 7 | | funds can be used to encourage high school students to consider |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | pursuing careers in education and to encourage |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | paraprofessionals, teacher aides, and long-term substitutes to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | complete their teaching certifications; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, With the help provided by the program, Presidio |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | ISD will be able to create a pipeline for 20 of its staff to earn |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | their teaching certifications and to recruit more Hispanic and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | bilingual teachers to match the demographics of its student |

|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This award from the Texas Education Agency is |

| 17 | 17 | | indeed a fitting investment in Presidio ISD's efforts to maintain |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a high standard of education at its schools, and it will help |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ensure that the district has a teaching staff that is even better |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | equipped to meet the needs of area students in the years to come; |

| 21 | 21 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
