| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, August 7, 2019, marks the 60th wedding anniversary |

| 3 | 3 | | of Dr. Kenneth and Millie Cooper, and this joyous event provides |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | a fitting opportunity to reflect on their rewarding journey |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | together as husband and wife; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Kenneth and Millie Cooper exchanged the vows of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | matrimony on that memorable day in 1959; over the years, they |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | children, Berkley and Tyler, as well as their five grandchildren, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | with whom they enjoy spending many special occasions; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Known as the father of aerobics, Dr. Cooper served |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | for 13 years in the United States military, and while working as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | flight surgeon and director of the Aerospace Medical Laboratory, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | he developed fitness tests and conditioning programs that are |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | still in use today; he sparked a national interest in exercise |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | with the release of his first book, Aerobics, in 1968, and he has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | continued to promote cardiovascular fitness by founding The |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Cooper Institute in Dallas and through his involvement with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | numerous health and wellness companies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, An early spokesperson for women's fitness, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Mrs. Cooper was responsible for typing the original Aerobics |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | manuscript, and she cowrote Aerobics for Women with her husband |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in 1972; in recognition of her efforts, she received the Sandi |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Haddock Impact Award from the American Heart Association in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 2016; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The six decades of marriage that Dr. and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Mrs. Cooper have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to all who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Kenneth and Millie Cooper |

| 32 | 32 | | on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |

| 33 | 33 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
