1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 677
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Rabke Methodist Church on the occasion of its 125th
4	4	anniversary; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Rabke Methodist Church traces its roots to a
6	6	congregation formed in 1894 under the leadership of Fred
7	7	Vordenbaum, a Methodist missionary, and his wife, Dorothea
8	8	Rabke, the widow of the community's founder, Adolph Rabke; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Land for the church was donated by Johanna Rabke,
10	10	the daughter of Adolph Rabke, and her husband, William Gohlke;
11	11	other members of the Rabke family were instrumental in building
12	12	the church, and in 1908, a steeple with a bell was added to the
13	13	church; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Through the years, the church has served as a hub
15	15	for community activities while also ministering to the spiritual
16	16	needs of its congregation; and
17	17	WHEREAS, The celebration of the church's 125th anniversary
18	18	is an opportunity for all to reflect on its rich history and on
19	19	the events and ministries it has hosted to the benefit of the
20	20	community; now, therefore, be it
21	21	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
22	22	Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
23	23	of Rabke Methodist Church on the joyous occasion of its 125th
24	24	anniversary; and, be it further
25	25	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
26	26	the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
