| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Live Oak County Area Go-Texan, Incorporated, for its |

| 4 | 4 | | outstanding work in helping students pursue higher education; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Live Oak County Area Go-Texan is a nonprofit |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | organization established with the mission of providing academic |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and technical scholarships for graduating high school seniors in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Live Oak County; it is supported by the generosity of individuals |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and businesses across the region and has sponsored such |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | fund-raising efforts as a Christmas dinner and dance and a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | fishing tournament; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Scholarships from the organization go to students |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | from George West High School and Three Rivers High School and to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | home-schooled students in the county; since 1997, this |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | outstanding group has donated some $800,000 in scholarship funds |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to area students; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Live Oak County Area Go-Texan is administered |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | entirely through the efforts of volunteers, who generously |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | donate their time and their services and receive no |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | compensation; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Education is the foundation of success in today's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | complex world, and Live Oak County Area Go-Texan is playing a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | vital role in helping students achieve their educational goals; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Live Oak County Area Go-Texan, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Incorporated, on its commitment to helping local students pursue |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | higher education and extend to the organization's volunteers |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | best wishes for continued success in this important work; and, be |
