                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 693
 WHEREAS, The short animated documentary about Caddo Lake
 There's Something in the Water is receiving considerable
 attention on the film festival circuit in 2019; and
 WHEREAS, The only naturally occurring lake in Texas, Caddo
 Lake has been infested since 2006 by giant salvinia, an invasive
 species of fern that originated in Brazil; the Caddo Biocontrol
 Alliance and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are working
 to control the species, which blocks sunlight and decreases the
 amount of oxygen in the water, to the detriment of native
 species; and
 WHEREAS, There's Something in the Water is an eight-minute
 animated film featuring interviews with people who live and work
 on the lake; the film was directed by Rory WT, a London-based
 animator whose previous work has appeared on the BBC, Adult Swim,
 and Nature; it was produced by Shannon Wynne, a Texas
 restaurateur who purchased a camp on Caddo Lake in 1986, and
 Stephanie M. Casey, the owner of the Dallas-based marketing and
 communications firm Lovage Inc.; the associate producer is
 Daniel Villanueva, a radio/television/film graduate of the
 University of North Texas and a staffer at Lovage; and
 WHEREAS, The film is an official selection at eight film
 festivals in the spring of 2019, including the Earth Day Film
 Festival, the Sonoma International Film Festival, the Thin Line
 Film Festival, the Pasadena International Film Festival, the
 Environmental Film Festival at Yale, the Dallas International
 Film Festival, the EarthxFilm Festival, and the Manhattan Film
 Festival; and
 WHEREAS, This informative, entertaining, and provocative
 film promises to raise awareness about the serious situation at
 Caddo Lake, and its filmmakers are truly deserving of special
 recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
 Legislature, hereby commend the filmmaking team of There's
 Something in the Water and extend to them sincere best wishes for
 continued success with their production; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for the filmmakers as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas Senate.
