| 4 | 4 | | at the National FFA Agriscience Fair in October 2018; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Held during the 91st National FFA Convention & |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, the event drew a record turnout of |

| 7 | 7 | | nearly 70,000 attendees; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dougherty claimed the top prize in Division 3 |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of the Power, Structural and Technical Systems category with his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | project titled "Can You Hear Me Know," which explored ways of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | reducing the noise created by automatic fence post drivers; the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | son of Wendy and Mike Dougherty, he was inspired to pursue this |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | topic after learning that his grandfather had developed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | mid-range hearing loss from using the equipment; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, With his outstanding win at the premier national |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | showcase for FFA students, Michael Dougherty has ably |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | represented his chapter and community, and he may indeed look |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Michael Dougherty on his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | first-place finish at the 2018 National FFA Agriscience Fair and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
