2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Claudia S. Jackson is retiring from Del Mar |

3 | 3 | | College in Corpus Christi on April 30, 2019, drawing to a close an |

4 | 4 | | outstanding tenure that has spanned more than four decades; and |
---|
5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The former director of public information for Bee |
---|
6 | 6 | | County College, Claudia Jackson assumed the same role at Del Mar |
---|
7 | 7 | | College in 1977; after 21 years in that position, she became the |
---|
8 | 8 | | assistant to the president for community relations, and she was |
---|
9 | 9 | | subsequently promoted to executive director of community and |
---|
10 | 10 | | legislative relations before being named executive director of |
---|
11 | 11 | | strategic communication and government relations in 2013; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A member of the president's executive team, she |
---|
13 | 13 | | has advanced the mission of Del Mar College by managing |
---|
14 | 14 | | institutional advertising, publications, marketing, and social |
---|
15 | 15 | | media as well as guiding the crisis communication team and acting |
---|
16 | 16 | | as a liaison to elected officials; moreover, she was responsible |
---|
17 | 17 | | for the information component of the 2014 Capital Improvement |
---|
18 | 18 | | Program; under her direction, the College Relations Office has |
---|
19 | 19 | | received nearly a hundred marketing and advertising awards; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi and |
---|
21 | 21 | | Leadership Texas, Claudia Jackson has given back to the community |
---|
22 | 22 | | as chair of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education |
---|
23 | 23 | | District IV/Southwest and as a member of the CASE international |
---|
24 | 24 | | board of directors; in addition, she cochaired the BoldFuture for |
---|
25 | 25 | | the Coastal Bend planning initiative and chaired the Corpus |
---|
26 | 26 | | Christi Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, She has garnered numerous accolades over the |
---|
28 | 28 | | years, including the CASE District IV Distinguished Achievement |
---|
29 | 29 | | Award and the Corpus Christi YWCA Woman of the Year in |
---|
30 | 30 | | Communications award; she holds a bachelor's degree in |
---|
31 | 31 | | journalism from The University of Texas at Austin and a master's |
---|
32 | 32 | | degree in communications, business, and photography from Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | A&M University--Corpus Christi; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Claudia Jackson's dedication, professionalism, |
---|
35 | 35 | | and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited Del Mar |
---|
36 | 36 | | College, and she may take well-deserved pride in her exceptional |
---|
37 | 37 | | record of achievement as she embarks on the next exciting chapter |
---|
38 | 38 | | of her life; now, therefore, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Claudia S. Jackson on her |
---|
41 | 41 | | retirement from Del Mar College and extend to her sincere best |
