| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Tom Rogers, who is retiring from the Texas Retired |

| 4 | 4 | | Teachers Association and the Austin Retired Teachers Association |

| 5 | 5 | | after 27 years of outstanding service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Tom Rogers joined the Texas Retired Teachers |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Association in 1992 after 32 years of teaching science in junior |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | high school and high school; he began his career in education at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Fulmore Junior High School and went on to teach at Johnston High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School and Austin Community College; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Mr. Rogers has played an important role in supporting the needs |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of retired teachers through his service as an advocate for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | legislative action; he served for 25 years as chair of the Austin |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Retired Teachers Association's Legislative Committee; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He was recognized for his effective leadership in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 2014, when the Texas Retired Teachers Association presented him |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | with its highest honor, the E. L. Galyean Service Award; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career, Tom |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Rogers has had a profound impact on the lives of students and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | teachers alike, and it is truly fitting that he receive special |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | recognition for his outstanding contributions to education in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | our state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Tom Rogers on his exceptional |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | service as an educator and as an advocate for the state's retired |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | teachers and extend to him best wishes for continued success in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
