| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Angela-Jo Touza-Medina, who is stepping down as |

| 4 | 4 | | executive director of YWCA Greater Austin after four years of |

| 5 | 5 | | exemplary leadership; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for marginalized |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | populations, Angela-Jo Touza-Medina has worked diligently to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | open doors for the vulnerable and to foster grassroots change at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the local level; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Her wide-ranging experience includes serving in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | leadership roles for such organizations as the Immigrant |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Services Network of Austin, the Mayor's Taskforce on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Institutional Racism and Systemic Inequalities, and the City of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Austin's Joint Inclusion Committee; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, During Angela's tenure as executive director of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | YWCA Greater Austin, the organization has grown by 79 percent; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | she is credited with expanding an array of services in Travis |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | County to benefit residents in seven other Central Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | counties; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, An award-winning leader for grassroots change, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Angela-Jo Touza-Medina has shaped an impressive career in social |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | justice as a believer in each person's ability to catalyze |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | positive change through self-reflection, accountability, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | action; she has made a difference in the lives of countless |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | individuals, and her presence at YWCA Greater Austin will be |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Angela-Jo Touza-Medina for her many |

| 29 | 29 | | contributions to the community and her outstanding leadership of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | YWCA Greater Austin and extend to her best wishes for the future; |
