8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Clark University, Dan Markson |

9 | 9 | | earned his master's degree in business administration from |

10 | 10 | | Babson College before settling in the Alamo City; as executive |

11 | 11 | | vice president of development for The NRP Group and cofounder of |

12 | 12 | | the organization's Texas office, he championed affordable |

13 | 13 | | housing for people of all incomes, and over the course of his |
---|
14 | 14 | | three-decade career, he spearheaded the creation of more than |
---|
15 | 15 | | 20,000 apartment homes; he was known as an advocate for the |
---|
16 | 16 | | city's most vulnerable populations, and he pioneered efforts to |
---|
17 | 17 | | combine affordable housing with supportive services to improve |
---|
18 | 18 | | the lives of low-income families; and |

19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Markson shared his time with the Texas |

20 | 20 | | Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers, the Texas |

21 | 21 | | Association of Builders, and the National Association of Home |

22 | 22 | | Builders, where he was national director for the Greater San |
---|
23 | 23 | | Antonio Builders Association; furthermore, he was a member of the |

24 | 24 | | Federal Government Affairs and Housing Finance Committee of |

25 | 25 | | NAHB, and he was a past chair of the NAHB Multifamily Finance |
---|
26 | 26 | | Subcommittee; and |

27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community of faith, Mr. Markson |

28 | 28 | | served on the board of Temple Beth-El San Antonio, was a former |
---|
29 | 29 | | board member of Jewish Family Service of San Antonio, and had |
---|
30 | 30 | | recently received the Chabad Center for Jewish Life and |
---|
31 | 31 | | Learning's 2018 Distinguished Community Service Award; he also |
---|
32 | 32 | | supported the Southwest School of Art and the César E. Chávez |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legacy and Educational Foundation; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Markson was the proud father |
---|
35 | 35 | | of his beloved son, Maury; and |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Dan Markson earned the admiration of all who knew |
---|
37 | 37 | | him, not only for his success as a real estate developer but also |

38 | 38 | | for his exceptional kindness and generosity, and he leaves behind |

39 | 39 | | a legacy that will resonate in the San Antonio community for |
