55 WHEREAS, Residents of Atlanta, Texas, lost an admired
66 civic leader with the untimely passing of Mayor Keith Crow on
77 July 22, 2017, at the age of 61; and
88 WHEREAS, An Atlanta native, Keith Crow was born on
99 January 4, 1956, to J. W. and Emily Crow and grew up with the
1010 companionship of his brother, Johnny, and his sister, Elaine;
1111 after graduating from Atlanta High School in 1974, he earned a
1212 bachelor's degree in communications from East Texas State
1313 University in 1979, and he went on to enjoy a rewarding career as
1414 a licensed Realtor and the owner of Keith Crow Realty; and
1515 WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving his community, Mr. Crow took
1616 office as the mayor of Atlanta in May 2006 and remained in that
1717 post for the next 11 years; he belonged to a number of civic
1818 organizations, including the Lions Club, where he held
1919 membership for nearly four decades and served as Song Leader,
2020 Tail Twister, and president; a valued member of the Atlanta
2121 Chamber of Commerce, he was named the group's Man of the Year in
2222 1985; and
2323 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was blessed with two
2424 children, Blake and Lauren, in whom he took tremendous pride;
2525 strong in his faith, he was a respected congregant of First
2626 Baptist Church of Atlanta, where he shared his passion for music
2727 by singing with the First Praise Adult Choir and the Boundless
2828 Love Quartet; and
2929 WHEREAS, Keith Crow will always be remembered for his
3030 kindness, his generosity, and his devotion to the city he loved,
3131 and although his journey on this earth ended far too soon, his
3232 life stands as an inspiring example of the good that one person
3333 can accomplish; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3535 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable
3636 Keith Crow and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his
3737 family: to his children, Blake Crow and his partner, Rachel
3838 McCoart, and Lauren Crow; to his father, J. W. Crow; to his
3939 brother, Johnny Crow, and his wife, Connie; to his sister, Elaine
4040 Johnson, and her husband, Joe; and to his other relatives and
4141 many friends; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4343 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4444 this day, it do so in memory of Mayor Keith Crow.
