5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Atlanta, Texas, lost an admired |
---|
6 | 6 | | civic leader with the untimely passing of Mayor Keith Crow on |
---|
7 | 7 | | July 22, 2017, at the age of 61; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An Atlanta native, Keith Crow was born on |
---|
9 | 9 | | January 4, 1956, to J. W. and Emily Crow and grew up with the |
---|
10 | 10 | | companionship of his brother, Johnny, and his sister, Elaine; |
---|
11 | 11 | | after graduating from Atlanta High School in 1974, he earned a |
---|
12 | 12 | | bachelor's degree in communications from East Texas State |
---|
13 | 13 | | University in 1979, and he went on to enjoy a rewarding career as |
---|
14 | 14 | | a licensed Realtor and the owner of Keith Crow Realty; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving his community, Mr. Crow took |
---|
16 | 16 | | office as the mayor of Atlanta in May 2006 and remained in that |
---|
17 | 17 | | post for the next 11 years; he belonged to a number of civic |
---|
18 | 18 | | organizations, including the Lions Club, where he held |
---|
19 | 19 | | membership for nearly four decades and served as Song Leader, |
---|
20 | 20 | | Tail Twister, and president; a valued member of the Atlanta |
---|
21 | 21 | | Chamber of Commerce, he was named the group's Man of the Year in |
---|
22 | 22 | | 1985; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was blessed with two |
---|
24 | 24 | | children, Blake and Lauren, in whom he took tremendous pride; |
---|
25 | 25 | | strong in his faith, he was a respected congregant of First |
---|
26 | 26 | | Baptist Church of Atlanta, where he shared his passion for music |
---|
27 | 27 | | by singing with the First Praise Adult Choir and the Boundless |
---|
28 | 28 | | Love Quartet; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Keith Crow will always be remembered for his |
---|
30 | 30 | | kindness, his generosity, and his devotion to the city he loved, |
---|
31 | 31 | | and although his journey on this earth ended far too soon, his |
---|
32 | 32 | | life stands as an inspiring example of the good that one person |
---|
33 | 33 | | can accomplish; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable |
---|
36 | 36 | | Keith Crow and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his |
---|
37 | 37 | | family: to his children, Blake Crow and his partner, Rachel |
---|
38 | 38 | | McCoart, and Lauren Crow; to his father, J. W. Crow; to his |
---|
39 | 39 | | brother, Johnny Crow, and his wife, Connie; to his sister, Elaine |
---|
40 | 40 | | Johnson, and her husband, Joe; and to his other relatives and |

41 | 41 | | many friends; and, be it further |

42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
