SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 745 In Memory of Martin Siller Cuellar Sr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of Martin Siller Cuellar Sr. of Laredo, who died April 13, 2019, at the age of 92; and WHEREAS, Born May 22, 1926, in Guerrero Viejo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Martin Cuellar was a beloved gentleman who enriched the lives of those who knew him through his wisdom, his integrity, and the kindness he bestowed on friends and strangers; and WHEREAS, Martin Cuellar met Odilia Perez in the plaza in his hometown, and they soon married and immigrated to the United States; Martin took on migrant work in Utah, Idaho, and Colorado, and he and Odilia moved to Laredo after starting their family; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Cuellar reared their eight children by loving example; Mr. Cuellar provided for his family as a laborer and ranch manager, and he taught his children that dignity comes with an honest living and that all people are deserving of kindness and respect; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cuellar was grateful for the opportunities he found in his adopted country and was proud to become a naturalized citizen of the United States; he was beloved by many, and memories of him long will be treasured by those privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature,herebyextendsincerecondolencestothebereaved family of Martin Siller Cuellar Sr.: his children, Henry Cuellar, Carlos Cuellar, Martin Cuellar Jr., Tony Cuellar, Jorge Cuellar, Odilia Cuellar, Rosie Cuellar, and Manuel Cuellar, and his eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Martin Cuellar Sr. Zaffirini ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on May 15, 2019, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
