| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Lions Clubs International Texas State Convention, |

| 4 | 4 | | which is being held May 30 through June 1, 2019, in Waxahachie; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International was founded in 1917 by |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Chicago businessman Melvin Jones; with the motto of "We Serve," |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | this invaluable organization supports a wide range of global |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | causes and focuses on areas related to vision, diabetes, hunger, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the environment, and childhood cancer; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Leo Club Program is an important part of Lions |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Clubs International; the Leo Clubs provide young people an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | opportunity for development and chances to contribute to their |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | communities; based on the principles of leadership, experience, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and opportunity, Leo Clubs are providing young people in more |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | than 140 countries around the world the ability to have a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | positive influence on their societies; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Lions Clubs International Texas State |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Convention is being hosted by the Waxahachie Lions Club, which was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | established in 1925 and which has sponsored three Leo Clubs; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, For more than 100 years, Lions Clubs |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | International has been a global leader in service, and its |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | members have made a difference in the lives of countless people |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | around the world; it is truly fitting that this exemplary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | organization receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of Lions Clubs |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | International and the Waxahachie Lions Club on their commitment |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to serving others and extend to them best wishes for a successful |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and memorable 2019 Lions Clubs International Texas State |
|---|
