1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 748
2	2	WHEREAS, Endeavors is celebrating its 50th anniversary in
3	3	2019, and it is also marking the 15th anniversary of its
4	4	Fairweather Family Lodge in San Antonio; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Founded as San Antonio Urban Ministries by
6	6	inner-city churches in 1969, Endeavors has grown dramatically
7	7	through the years and adopted its present name in 2018; the
8	8	nonprofit agency delivers an array of services to children,
9	9	families, veterans, and people struggling with mental illness or
10	10	other significant disabilities; it additionally partners and
11	11	coordinates with government agencies and local and national
12	12	organizations to increase its ability to meet the needs of
13	13	vulnerable residents; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Endeavors now serves more than 16,000 clients
15	15	annually; its programs address such issues as homelessness,
16	16	unemployment, and child abuse, and it offers families
17	17	counseling, crisis intervention, and life skills and vocational
18	18	training, among other initiatives; key programs include Safe
19	19	Services, which furnishes crime victims with free professional
20	20	counseling and case management, Operation Parent Strong, which
21	21	holds group and individual parenting classes for military
22	22	families, and the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic, which
23	23	provides integrated mental health care to veterans and their
24	24	families; moreover, Veteran Supportive Services offers
25	25	homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing through case
26	26	management, housing stability plans, and assistance in obtaining
27	27	VA and other benefits; and
28	28	WHEREAS, In 2004, Endeavors opened its Fairweather Family
29	29	Lodge, which provides permanent supportive housing to
30	30	chronically homeless women with disabilities and their children;
31	31	its Fairweather Lodge offers such housing to single individuals
32	32	with mental illness; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Over the past half century, Endeavors has
34	34	empowered countless people to improve their lives and build a
35	35	brighter future for their families, and in so doing, it has
36	36	helped to strengthen the entire community; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
38	38	Legislature, hereby congratulate Endeavors on its 50th
39	39	anniversary and on the 15th anniversary of its Fairweather Family
40	40	Lodge and extend to all those associated with this noteworthy
41	41	organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
42	42	it further
43	43	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
44	44	prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by
45	45	the Texas Senate.
