| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The President's Cup is known as the Final Four of |

| 6 | 6 | | collegiate chess competition; it brings together the four |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | highest-ranked collegiate teams in the country to determine a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | national champion; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Vaqueros captured their second consecutive |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | national championship title by defeating six-time champion |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Webster University; team members Kamil Dragun, Andrey Stukopin, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Vladimir Belous, and Guillermo Vázquez can |

| 13 | 13 | | take great pride in their outstanding performances; and |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Vaqueros developed highly effective tactics |

| 15 | 15 | | and strategies under the exceptional leadership of chess coach |

| 16 | 16 | | Grandmaster Bartlomiej Bartek Macieja, chess program manager |

| 17 | 17 | | Grandmaster Aleksander Mista, and associate dean for student |

| 18 | 18 | | rights and responsibilities Dr. Douglas Stoves; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the |

| 20 | 20 | | people of South Texas are proud of the Vaqueros for their hard |

| 21 | 21 | | work and impressive skills; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of The University |
