| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Bianca Porras, who has been named the 2018 Texas |

| 4 | 4 | | History Day Teacher of the Year--Senior Division by the Texas |

| 5 | 5 | | State Historical Association; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to history |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | teachers who have been successful in incorporating Texas History |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Day into their classrooms and school districts; winners in the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | junior and senior divisions also become the Texas nominees for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the MacGregor National History Day Teacher of the Year; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Bianca Porras is a teacher in the Valentine |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Independent School District; she has been using the Texas History |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Day program in her classes for 10 years, and her students have |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | presented notable projects at the regional, state, and national |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | levels; she has also received the Texas State Historical |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Association's DeBoe Award; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Bianca Porras has motivated her students to engage |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | actively in the study of history, and she has helped them to develop |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | invaluable communication and critical thinking skills that will |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | benefit them throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend Bianca Porras on her achievements as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | an educator and extend to her congratulations on being named the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 2018 Texas History Day Teacher of the Year--Senior Division; and, |
