1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 767
2	2	WHEREAS, Texans and people around the globe were deeply
3	3	saddened by the campus shooting that took place at Santa Fe High
4	4	School on May 18, 2018, which resulted in the loss of 10 innocent
5	5	lives; and
6	6	WHEREAS, The victims included eight students, Jared Conard
7	7	Black, Shana Fisher, Christian Riley Garcia, Aaron Kyle McLeod,
8	8	Angelique Ramirez, Sabika Sheikh, Christopher Stone, and
9	9	Kimberly Vaughan, who ranged in age from 14 to 18; also killed
10	10	were two substitute teachers, Glenda Ann Perkins and Cynthia
11	11	Tisdale, and 13 other individuals were wounded in the attack; and
12	12	WHEREAS, First responders and school resource officers
13	13	demonstrated outstanding bravery in helping evacuate the
14	14	building and in confronting, containing, and ultimately
15	15	apprehending the gunman; and
16	16	WHEREAS, The incident has deeply impacted the town of Santa
17	17	Fe; present on that fateful day were 1,435 students and 85
18	18	teachers, and they, along with the bereaved families of the
19	19	victims, have experienced immense heartbreak; though the journey
20	20	to healing has proven difficult, the community has shown its
21	21	resilience and compassion during this time of need, as neighbors
22	22	have come together to support and comfort those most affected; and
23	23	WHEREAS, In pausing to reflect on this solemn anniversary,
24	24	we remember those whose lives were lost, and our hearts go out to
25	25	the many whose lives were forever altered; now, therefore, be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
27	27	Legislature, hereby extend condolences to the people of Santa Fe
28	28	on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the Santa Fe High
29	29	School shooting and commend the efforts of those who have
30	30	promoted unity and healing in the aftermath of this tragedy.
