5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of James Gipson Humphrey, who died August |
---|
7 | 7 | | 6, 2018, at the age of 75; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jim Humphrey was born on April 21, 1943, in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Houston, to Estelle Love Humphrey and H. G. Humphrey; he grew up |
---|
10 | 10 | | in Fort Worth and graduated in 1961 from Polytechnic High School, |
---|
11 | 11 | | where he was a member of the football and baseball teams; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the |
---|
13 | 13 | | paving industry; he worked for many years with J. I. Bertram |
---|
14 | 14 | | Construction and rose through the ranks to become president; he |
---|
15 | 15 | | bought the company in 1999, and he took great pride in the work |
---|
16 | 16 | | the company did for the Texas Rangers' Ballpark in Arlington; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Humphrey was dedicated to his family; he and |
---|
18 | 18 | | his first wife, Nancy Thomson, were blessed with two children, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Annette Carrell and the late Philip Humphrey; he later married |
---|
20 | 20 | | his beloved soulmate, Sandy Rielluchtman, and they enjoyed 35 |
---|
21 | 21 | | years of marriage together, along with her children, Alicia and |
---|
22 | 22 | | Sean, and granddaughter, Loren; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Jim was highly intelligent and constantly sought |
---|
24 | 24 | | to gain new knowledge, and his genuine love for people and his |
---|
25 | 25 | | enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
---|
26 | 26 | | forgotten; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
---|
28 | 28 | | grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
---|
29 | 29 | | forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
32 | 32 | | family of James Gipson Humphrey; and, be it further |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
34 | 34 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
