5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
---|
6 | 6 | | passing of Dennis F. Wright of Hawkins and Trophy Club on April |
---|
7 | 7 | | 30, 2018, at the age of 70; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Wright was born in Kingsville to Zena and |
---|
9 | 9 | | J. T. Wright on October 31, 1947, and raised in Hawkins along |
---|
10 | 10 | | with his two younger brothers, Mark and Scott; he was a standout |
---|
11 | 11 | | athlete in high school, and he went on to receive his |
---|
12 | 12 | | undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University; |
---|
13 | 13 | | for a time, he worked as a coach and teacher in Anton and as a |
---|
14 | 14 | | coach in Seymour; he then returned to Hawkins to join the family |
---|
15 | 15 | | business, Big Sandy Sand Company, which was founded by his father |
---|
16 | 16 | | and grandfather, G. C. "Doc" Wright, in 1948; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to both his business and his community, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Mr. Wright served as a member of the Hawkins Independent School |
---|
19 | 19 | | District school board, as a director for the First State Bank of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Hawkins and the Wood County Electric Cooperative, and in various |
---|
21 | 21 | | other civic and charitable roles; an accomplished yet humble man, |
---|
22 | 22 | | he always focused his attention on helping those in need, and he |
---|
23 | 23 | | spoke highly of the achievements of individuals he worked with or |
---|
24 | 24 | | mentored; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Wright and his first wife, Rhonda Tullis, |
---|
26 | 26 | | became the parents of four children, John, Lee Ann, Joshua, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | Lauren; he later remarried and went on to enjoy a rewarding |
---|
28 | 28 | | 18-year union with Lori Wright; his family grew to include three |
---|
29 | 29 | | stepchildren,Drew,Corey,andCourtney,aswellasfive |
---|
30 | 30 | | grandchildren, Taytum, Tyson, Tess, Hailey, and Aubrey, and five |
---|
31 | 31 | | step-grandchildren, Dee, Miranda, Kalynne, Kolbie, and Jordan; |
---|
32 | 32 | | Mr. Wright spent much of his time traveling around the world with |
---|
33 | 33 | | his wife and visiting his children, and he was also fond of |
---|
34 | 34 | | golfing, cheering on the Texas Rangers, and entertaining guests |
---|
35 | 35 | | at his homes and lake cabin; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Although Dennis Wright is deeply missed, his |
---|
37 | 37 | | loved ones may find comfort in remembering the warmth, kindness, |
---|
38 | 38 | | and integrity with which he lived his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dennis F. Wright |
---|
41 | 41 | | and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; |
---|
42 | 42 | | and, be it further |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
---|
44 | 44 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |

45 | 45 | | this day, it do so in memory of Dennis Wright. |
