44 Dennis F. Wright
55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Dennis F. Wright of Hawkins and Trophy Club on April
77 30, 2018, at the age of 70; and
88 WHEREAS, Dennis Wright was born in Kingsville to Zena and
99 J. T. Wright on October 31, 1947, and raised in Hawkins along
1010 with his two younger brothers, Mark and Scott; he was a standout
1111 athlete in high school, and he went on to receive his
1212 undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University;
1313 for a time, he worked as a coach and teacher in Anton and as a
1414 coach in Seymour; he then returned to Hawkins to join the family
1515 business, Big Sandy Sand Company, which was founded by his father
1616 and grandfather, G. C. "Doc" Wright, in 1948; and
1717 WHEREAS, Dedicated to both his business and his community,
1818 Mr. Wright served as a member of the Hawkins Independent School
1919 District school board, as a director for the First State Bank of
2020 Hawkins and the Wood County Electric Cooperative, and in various
2121 other civic and charitable roles; an accomplished yet humble man,
2222 he always focused his attention on helping those in need, and he
2323 spoke highly of the achievements of individuals he worked with or
2424 mentored; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mr. Wright and his first wife, Rhonda Tullis,
2626 became the parents of four children, John, Lee Ann, Joshua, and
2727 Lauren; he later remarried and went on to enjoy a rewarding
2828 18-year union with Lori Wright; his family grew to include three
2929 stepchildren,Drew,Corey,andCourtney,aswellasfive
3030 grandchildren, Taytum, Tyson, Tess, Hailey, and Aubrey, and five
3131 step-grandchildren, Dee, Miranda, Kalynne, Kolbie, and Jordan;
3232 Mr. Wright spent much of his time traveling around the world with
3333 his wife and visiting his children, and he was also fond of
3434 golfing, cheering on the Texas Rangers, and entertaining guests
3535 at his homes and lake cabin; and
3636 WHEREAS, Although Dennis Wright is deeply missed, his
3737 loved ones may find comfort in remembering the warmth, kindness,
3838 and integrity with which he lived his life; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
4040 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dennis F. Wright
4141 and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing;
4242 and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4545 this day, it do so in memory of Dennis Wright.
