2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize Robert Floyd on his distinguished career and his |

4 | 4 | | outstanding service on behalf of military veterans and the state |
---|
5 | 5 | | and nation; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the |
---|
7 | 7 | | United States Army, Robert Floyd served with distinction during the |
---|
8 | 8 | | Vietnam War, and he went on to build a rewarding career as a |
---|
9 | 9 | | legislative lobbyist, trade executive, and education advocate; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Robert has lobbied before the Texas Legislature |
---|
11 | 11 | | and the United States Congress for more than 35 years; he was a |
---|
12 | 12 | | two-term Eanes Independent School District Trustee, and he |
---|
13 | 13 | | taught as an adjunct instructor at Austin Community College; he |
---|
14 | 14 | | is the author of The Courage to Lead: An Essential Guide for |
---|
15 | 15 | | Volunteer Leaders, Board Trustees, and Public Servants and of |
---|
16 | 16 | | many articles on nonprofit management and public advocacy; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, As chairman of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans |
---|
18 | 18 | | Monument Committee, Robert Floyd deserves high accolades for |
---|
19 | 19 | | leading the movement to honor Texas veterans of the Vietnam War; |
---|
20 | 20 | | it was his vision to place a monument on the grounds of the Texas |
---|
21 | 21 | | Capitol in honor of those veterans who heroically served their |
---|
22 | 22 | | nation; the monument depicts five Texas soldiers in action and |
---|
23 | 23 | | entombed inside are the names of the 3,417 Texans who did not |
---|
24 | 24 | | return home from the war; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Robert Floyd is an esteemed citizen who has earned |
---|
26 | 26 | | the admiration of leaders in both the public and private sectors; |
---|
27 | 27 | | he is retiring from Hance Scarborough, Limited Liability |
---|
28 | 28 | | Partnership, after a long career of service to his community and |
---|
29 | 29 | | the state; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Robert Floyd on his invaluable service |
---|
32 | 32 | | and leadership and his exceptional accomplishments and extend to |
---|
33 | 33 | | him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

35 | 35 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
