11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 777
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Robert Floyd on his distinguished career and his
44 outstanding service on behalf of military veterans and the state
55 and nation; and
66 WHEREAS, A veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the
77 United States Army, Robert Floyd served with distinction during the
88 Vietnam War, and he went on to build a rewarding career as a
99 legislative lobbyist, trade executive, and education advocate; and
1010 WHEREAS, Robert has lobbied before the Texas Legislature
1111 and the United States Congress for more than 35 years; he was a
1212 two-term Eanes Independent School District Trustee, and he
1313 taught as an adjunct instructor at Austin Community College; he
1414 is the author of The Courage to Lead: An Essential Guide for
1515 Volunteer Leaders, Board Trustees, and Public Servants and of
1616 many articles on nonprofit management and public advocacy; and
1717 WHEREAS, As chairman of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans
1818 Monument Committee, Robert Floyd deserves high accolades for
1919 leading the movement to honor Texas veterans of the Vietnam War;
2020 it was his vision to place a monument on the grounds of the Texas
2121 Capitol in honor of those veterans who heroically served their
2222 nation; the monument depicts five Texas soldiers in action and
2323 entombed inside are the names of the 3,417 Texans who did not
2424 return home from the war; and
2525 WHEREAS, Robert Floyd is an esteemed citizen who has earned
2626 the admiration of leaders in both the public and private sectors;
2727 he is retiring from Hance Scarborough, Limited Liability
2828 Partnership, after a long career of service to his community and
2929 the state; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3131 Legislature, hereby commend Robert Floyd on his invaluable service
3232 and leadership and his exceptional accomplishments and extend to
3333 him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3535 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
