SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 781 WHEREAS, The Trinity University Police Department has reached a significant milestone in its history with its full accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; and WHEREAS, Representing campus public safety leaders at more than 1,200 institutions of higher education, the IACLEA has offered accreditation to college and university police, security, and public safety departments since 2007; its rigorous accreditation standards have been developed by association members from both sworn and non-sworn agencies; and WHEREAS, The Trinity University Police Department provides expert 24-hour police and security coverage for the university community 365 days a year, and its officers are all fully certified Texas Peace Officers and licensed under the Texas Education Code; the department was previously accredited by the Texas Police Chiefs Association's Best Practices Program in 2014, the first private university to receive this honor, and it was reaccredited by the TPCA in 2018; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Chief Paul J. Chapa, the men and women of the Trinity University Police Department have demonstrated their commitment to the highest levels of professionalism, and this prestigious accolade acknowledges their success in upholding these rigorous standards; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Trinity University Police Department on its accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and extend to the department's personnel sincere best wishes for continued success with their important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Trinity University Police Department as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
