SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 787 In Memory of Charles Patterson Worrell WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Charles Patterson "Pat" Worrell, who died March 8, 2019, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Pat Worrell was born May 28, 1940, in Beeville, Texas, and he grew up in numerous communities throughout South and Central Texas; his family settled in Dallas for his sixth-grade year, and he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958; and WHEREAS, Pat served with distinction in the United States Coast Guard, and he later attended Texas Tech University and The University of Texas at Arlington; he enjoyed a 35-year career with J. D. Abrams, and he retired as senior vice president of the company in 2012; his legacy of work can be found in many of the highways, bridges, and interchanges throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; and WHEREAS, Mr. Worrell shared 55 years of devotion with his wife, Dora Sherman Worrell; they were blessed with two children, and their four grandchildren enriched his life immeasurably; above all things, he cherished time spent with family on their Central Texas deer lease and at their bay house in Port Mansfield; and WHEREAS, An avid golfer and fisherman, Pat Worrell took great pleasure in the outdoors, and he pursued his hobbies from CanadatotheAmazon;helivedlifetothefullest,andhis wisdom, kindness, and valued counsel will not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Charles Patterson Worrell; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pat Worrell.
