| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Cruz Montemayor, who is retiring as deputy executive |

| 4 | 4 | | director of the Texas Veterans Commission after nearly 20 years |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | of outstanding service with the organization; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Cruz Montemayor joined the Texas Veterans |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Commission in 1999 after a career in the United States Army as an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | officer in the Adjutant General's Corps; he is the recipient of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy Distinguished Graduate |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Award, and his decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He has held multiple leadership positions over |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the course of his career with the commission, including those of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | information and training coordinator, director of Human |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Resources, and chief administrative officer; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Montemayor is a graduate of the Lyndon B. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Johnson School of Public Affairs Governor's Executive |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Development Program and a 2016 Fellow of the Center for Public |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Policy Dispute Resolution at The University of Texas; he has been |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | active in a number of professional organizations, including the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admired by his colleagues, and his leadership at the Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Veterans Commission will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Cruz Montemayor on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exceptional service to the Texas Veterans Commission and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
