| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Colonel Glenn Hill, who is retiring as superintendent |

| 4 | 4 | | of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen after 53 years of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | outstanding service to the United States Marine Corps and the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Marine Military Academy; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Colonel Glenn Hill was commissioned as an officer |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 after earning a degree |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | from Lamar University; he was deployed to Vietnam and also served |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm before |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | serving as chief of staff for United States Marine Corps, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Atlantic; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Among the many awards and decorations he received |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | during his active duty career are the Defense Superior Service |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Medal, the Legion of Merit with gold star, the Defense |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Meritorious Service with oak-leaf cluster, and the Navy |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Commendation Medal with "V" device and gold star; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After retiring from active duty service in 1996, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Colonel Hill joined the Marine Military Academy as support |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | activities director; he later became chief of staff, and in 2007, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | he was named superintendent; under his leadership, the academy has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | continued its long tradition of combining Marine Corps values with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a rigorous curriculum to produce a quality educational environment |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | where hard work and stellar performance are prized; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Colonel Glenn Hill has served our nation and state |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with distinction, and it is truly fitting that he receive special |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Glenn Hill on more than a half |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | century of service to the nation and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
