| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Mary Undeen Cooper Thompson of Marshall on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | December 4, 2018, at the age of 102; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Mary Undeen Cooper was born in Marshall |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | on September 24, 1916, the fourth of 11 children of Homer and Eva |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Cooper; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, she shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | marriage of 73 years with her husband, John Thompson Sr., who |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | preceded her in death; she took great pride in her three |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | children, Carolyn, Thelma, and John, and she experienced the joy |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of welcoming into her family six grandchildren and 12 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson served in several ministries as a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | faithful member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, and she |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | was also active in her community; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Although Mary Thompson is greatly missed, this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | beloved woman has left her family and friends with many cherished |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | memories, and she will forever hold a special place in their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Cooper |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Thompson and extend sincere sympathy to her daughters, Carolyn |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | King and her husband, Eddie, and Thelma Silmon and her husband, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | John; to her son, John Thompson Jr., and his wife, Carolyn; to her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
