| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Aida Ramirez, who is stepping down as the District 4 |

| 4 | 4 | | commissioner of the City of McAllen after 18 years of exemplary |

| 5 | 5 | | service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A trailblazing civic leader, Aida Ramirez was the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | first Hispanic woman to be elected to the McAllen City |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Commission; she won her seat as the District 4 commissioner in a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 2001 special election, and she has since faithfully served the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | residents of southwest McAllen; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Aida is known for her extensive knowledge of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | McAllen history; her expertise has been invaluable to policy |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | making, and she has often been tasked with leading commission |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | meetings when the mayor has been unable to attend; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Aida Ramirez is devoted to her community, and for |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | nearly two decades, she has been a trusted voice for the citizens |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of southwest McAllen; she is respected and admired by her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | colleagues and area citizens, and her presence on the commission |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend Aida Ramirez for her outstanding |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | civic leadership as McAllen's District 4 commissioner and extend |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 25 | 25 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
