4	4	Manuel Alvarado
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Manuel Alvarado, who died April 8, 2019,
7	7	at the age of 77; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Manny Alvarado was born September 9, 1941; he
9	9	graduated in 1964 from Jefferson High School, and he served the
10	10	nation with distinction as a member of the United States Navy; he
11	11	served two tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Pyro, and his
12	12	decorations included the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze
13	13	stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and
14	14	WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Martha Rivas Alvarado,
15	15	were blessed with three children, Manuel Alvarado Jr., Linda
16	16	Rodriguez, and the late Oscar Alvarado; his five grandchildren
17	17	and great-granddaughter were a source of much pride and joy for
18	18	him; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Mr. Alvarado enjoyed a long and productive career
20	20	as a maintenance technician at Providence Memorial Hospital, and
21	21	he took great pleasure in being with his family and friends; he
22	22	was an avid dancer and a member of Los Pistoleros De San Elizario,
23	23	for which he played Sheriff Kerber in the Billy the Kid
24	24	reenactments; he was also active in the Veterans Association of
25	25	San Elizario, and his pastimes included baseball, hunting, and
26	26	photography; and
27	27	WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and integrity, he gave
28	28	unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and
29	29	his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
30	30	forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and
31	31	WHEREAS, Manny was a devoted husband, father, and
32	32	grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
33	33	forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore,
34	34	be it
35	35	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
36	36	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
37	37	family of Manuel Alvarado; and, be it further
38	38	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	39	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
40	40	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
41	41	memory of Manuel Alvarado.
