SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 805 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Lupe "Chipper" Zamora for his many contributions to athletics in the Rio Grande Valley; and WHEREAS, Mr. Zamora served for many years as athletic director for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure in that position in Harlingen, he enjoyed great success as a football coach and athletic director in Mercedes and Los Fresnos; in 1973, he led the Mercedes High School football team to its first conference championship in 15 years, and under his leadership as athletic director, the school won multiple district championships in baseball and tennis; and WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Pan American University, where he was a member of the baseball team; he went on to earn a master's degree from Sam Houston State University before beginning his high school coaching career in Edinburg; and WHEREAS, An exemplary coach and educator, he has had a positive impact on the lives of countless young athletes, and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Lupe "Chipper" Zamora on his many achievements as a coach and athletic director and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
