| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lupe "Chipper" Zamora for his many contributions to |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | athletics in the Rio Grande Valley; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Zamora served for many years as athletic |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | director for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure in that position in Harlingen, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | he enjoyed great success as a football coach and athletic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | director in Mercedes and Los Fresnos; in 1973, he led the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mercedes High School football team to its first conference |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | championship in 15 years, and under his leadership as athletic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | director, the school won multiple district championships in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | baseball and tennis; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Pan American University, where |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he was a member of the baseball team; he went on to earn a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | master's degree from Sam Houston State University before |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | beginning his high school coaching career in Edinburg; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary coach and educator, he has had a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | positive impact on the lives of countless young athletes, and it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Lupe "Chipper" Zamora on his many |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | achievements as a coach and athletic director and extend to him |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be |
|---|
