11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 805
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Lupe "Chipper" Zamora for his many contributions to
44 athletics in the Rio Grande Valley; and
55 WHEREAS, Mr. Zamora served for many years as athletic
66 director for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School
77 District; and
88 WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure in that position in Harlingen,
99 he enjoyed great success as a football coach and athletic
1010 director in Mercedes and Los Fresnos; in 1973, he led the
1111 Mercedes High School football team to its first conference
1212 championship in 15 years, and under his leadership as athletic
1313 director, the school won multiple district championships in
1414 baseball and tennis; and
1515 WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Pan American University, where
1616 he was a member of the baseball team; he went on to earn a
1717 master's degree from Sam Houston State University before
1818 beginning his high school coaching career in Edinburg; and
1919 WHEREAS, An exemplary coach and educator, he has had a
2020 positive impact on the lives of countless young athletes, and it
2121 is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now,
2222 therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
2424 Legislature, hereby commend Lupe "Chipper" Zamora on his many
2525 achievements as a coach and athletic director and extend to him
2626 best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be
2727 it further
2828 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2929 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
