| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |

| 3 | 3 | | cause for celebration, and E. Arlene Lobdell of Mineola is |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | marking this momentous occasion in her life on June 2, 2019; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born to George and Gertrude Helberg in Bowling |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Green, Ohio, in 1919, the former Arlene Helberg grew up as the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | fourth of 11 children; she married Vern Lobdell on December 14, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1935, and they became the proud parents of four children, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Caroline Jane, Alfred Leroy, Vern Allen, and Edwin Richard; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Lobdell devoted herself to raising her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | children while also working outside the home; she was employed as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | a salesperson at Gregg's department store, and she earned her |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | real estate license; despite all her responsibilities, she found |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | time to can her own produce and sew items for her house and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | children; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A Texas resident for more than four decades, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Mrs. Lobdell moved to the state following her husband's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | retirement; the couple shared a rewarding marriage of 64 years |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | until his passing in 1999; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Lobdell is the cherished matriarch of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a fine family that has grown to include 14 grandchildren, 17 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | she continues to live independently and enjoys reading a wide |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | range of books, going to church, and playing bridge two or three |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | times a week; in addition, she delights in taking annual July |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | road trips to attend family reunions in Ohio; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with the affection of a host of loved ones |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and sustained by her strong faith, Arlene Lobdell has gracefully |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | reached the century mark and continues to enrich the lives of all |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate E. Arlene Lobdell on the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
