5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Appointed to the board by Governor Rick Perry in |

6 | 6 | | 2011, Ms. Mendoza was reappointed six years later by Governor |

7 | 7 | | Greg Abbott; she previously served two terms as vice chair, and |

8 | 8 | | she is serving her fourth term as chair of the Committee on |
---|
9 | 9 | | Academic and Student Affairs; in addition, she is a member of the |
---|
10 | 10 | | Committee on Audit and a liaison to the Texas Higher Education |
---|
11 | 11 | | Coordinating Board, and she also serves as a member of the |
---|

13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Mendoza has brought to the board of regents a |

15 | 15 | | Coordinating Board, the Commission for a College Ready Texas, and |

16 | 16 | | Governor Perry's Special Commission on 21st Century Colleges and |

18 | 18 | | on the Advancement of Women and Minorities in Science, |

20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, An alumna of Texas A&M, Ms. Mendoza is an admired |

21 | 21 | | leader in the biotechnology industry, and she currently serves as |

22 | 22 | | president and CEO of Conceptual MindWorks, the San Antonio-based |

23 | 23 | | company she founded in 1990; over the years, she has given |

24 | 24 | | generously of her time and talents to promote the expansion of |
---|
25 | 25 | | educational opportunities, health care, and economic growth in |

26 | 26 | | the Alamo City; she has served as chair of the Early Childhood |

27 | 27 | | Education Municipal Development Corporation, as chair of the |

28 | 28 | | board of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, and as co-chair |

29 | 29 | | of the P16 Council Formation Committee; in 2013, she received the |

30 | 30 | | Outstanding Alumni Award from the Dwight Look College of |

31 | 31 | | Engineering at Texas A&M, and the following year, she was |

32 | 32 | | recognized with the Women's Legacy Award from the Aggie Women |
