| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, which is |

| 4 | 4 | | celebrating 85 years of service to the community in 2019; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, First organized in 1934 as the Montgomery County |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Chamber of Commerce, this distinguished chamber began with a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | humble membership of three businesses that sought to strengthen |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the economic environment and quality of life in the county; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Today, the chamber thrives as a nonprofit, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community-based organization of more than 1,100 members governed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by a member-elected board of directors that determines policy, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sets goals, and steers the path of the chamber; the board also |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | employs a president who hires a professional staff to handle |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | day-to-day operations; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its 85-year history, the chamber has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | upheld its mission of local service by generating awareness, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | establishing partnerships, and providing leadership for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | progressive development and growth; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | remains committed to supporting local businesses and industries |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | while fostering a well-balanced and wholesome quality of life for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | residents; all associated with the chamber can be justifiably |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | proud of their many achievements and look to the future with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | confidence; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the board, staff, and volunteers of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce and extend |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | congratulations to all on the chamber's 85th anniversary; and, be |
