| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Austin Morrison, who is being commissioned as an |

| 4 | 4 | | officer in the United States Marine Corps on May 30, 2019; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Austin Morrison is receiving this honor after |

| 6 | 6 | | having completed the Officer Candidates School Platoon Leaders |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Course in 2017 and graduating from Officer Candidates School in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2018; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Corps at Southwestern University, where he majored in physics and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | was captain of the cross country and track and field teams; he was |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | three times a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Conference Academic Honor Roll, and he received the Director of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Athletics Academic Excellence Award; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, By becoming an officer in the United States armed |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | forces, Austin is joining the long line of men and women whose |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | service and sacrifice have been invaluable to this nation; it is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | truly fitting that he receive special recognition as he begins |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | this rewarding new stage in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend Austin Morrison on his commitment to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | service on behalf of his country and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success as an officer in the United States Marine Corps; and, be |
