| 4 | 4 | | January 30, 2019, a delegation of Texas community college |

| 5 | 5 | | students are gathering at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Community college leaders, students, and trustees |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and members of the Texas Association of Community Colleges and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the Community College Association of Texas Trustees have joined |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | together to discuss the essential contributions their schools |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | make to the state; and |

| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The total annual enrollment for Texas community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | colleges exceeds 730,000 students, accounting for more than half |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of the state's public postsecondary population and the largest |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | sector of higher education; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The community colleges of Texas clearly serve a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | vital function in the education and economic development of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome these outstanding |

| 18 | 18 | | students, instructors, administrators, and trustees to Austin; |

| 19 | 19 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby recognize January 30, 2019, as Community |
